Why this happens

Both supplements have 'antiplatelet' effects. This means they make the tiny cells in your blood (platelets) less 'sticky', which makes it harder for your blood to form clots. When used together, this effect is added together (an additive effect).

You should use this combination with caution. Watch for signs of unusual bleeding, such as bleeding gums, nosebleeds, or easy bruising. If you are scheduled for any surgery or dental work, stop taking both supplements at least two weeks before the procedure. Consult your doctor before combining these if you take blood-thinning medicines like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel.
